Ann Arbor Book Fair 2018

A New Date! A New Month!

The 40th annual Ann Arbor Antiquarian Book Fair returns to the Ballroom of the Michigan Union at 530 S. State Street in Ann Arbor (map) on Sunday, March 4th, 2018, from 11am to 5pm. Note the earlier date for 2018!

The 2018 Ann Arbor Antiquarian Book Fair has pushed up its date because of planned major renovations at the Michigan Union beginning in the spring of 2018. Plan now to come out to see some some 20+ booksellers, map and print dealers gathered in one location.

How do we get information about becoming exhibitors at the book fair? Thanks Lana

  2. Admin says:

@Lana: You can contact Jay Platt of the West Side Book Shop at the number or address above.

  3. beth h says:

will there be anyone there appraising old books?

  4. Admin says:

@beth While there will not be a table offering appraisals at the book fair, many of the booksellers attending the fair may be happy with prior arrangement to take a look at your material and to make either an informal valuation or an offer on your material. (For a formal, written appraisal for tax, insurance, or estate purposes, you should expect to pay the dealer for their time and work.) Feel free to browse our dealer list to make inquiries of the booksellers coming to the fair.

  5. Jared says:

I’m interested in volunteering for the Book Fair. Are there any opportunities?

  6. Admin says:

@Jared : I’m not certain, but the first step in finding out would be to contact fair organizer Jay Platt at the West Side Book Shop (see above).

The Ann Arbor Antiquarian Book Fair tends to be a dealer-driven event focusing on the sale of books and paper, run with assistance from (and to benefit) the Clements Library at the University of Michigan. If opportunities for bookish volunteer work do not exist for this fair and you still have the itch, you might want to contact the folks at the Kerrytown Book Fest about their outstanding program in September.

Thanks, and either way we hope to see you at the fair on May 20!

Can you send me a list of the dealers that will be there?

    thank you

  8. Admin says:

Lynne — we have updated the dealer list to reflect the exhibitors for 2013. We’ll see you on May 19!
